Growth through failure podcast episode 9 (outline) failure comes in many shapes and sizes for people maybe some see a big red ‘F’ on the test they studied so hard for as failure, maybe it looks like running a 5K and getting 3rd place, maybe it’s not creating the work of art you envisioned in you mind, maybe it’s not landing that dream job, or maybe for some nothing is perceived as failure -only an opportunity for growth failure is defined as, ‘the omission of expected or required action’ or in more simpler terms -THE LACK OF SUCCESS so what is success? how do we achieve success? is there ever perfectly obtainable success? success is a moment but we celebrate is mastery (how can we convert success into mastery?) -the opportunities we are given to celebrate a ‘near win’ ⁃ success is hitting the 10 ring but mastery is knowing that it means nothing if we can’t do it again and again ⁃ mastery is closing the gap from where you are and where you want to be, it’s for the sake of the craft but not for the sake of crafting it what does it look like to fail? is failure really what defines you or is it how you respond to it? ⁃ failure is a part of life, but it’s about what we do after that makes us who we are YOU ARE HUMAN. YOU ARE BOUND TO FAIL. how can i be more excepting to others’ failure in order to except my own? how can i grow from failure? perceived failure? the fear of failure is holding us back we all too often think of failure in a negative sense. but it’s so vital to view it as the opposite. if we are actively trying to change our mindset eventually we can begin to not fear failure when we truly learn, we grow DON’T LET THE FEAR OF FAILURE HOLD YOU BACK how many times have we seen a piece of artwork as a masterpiece while the creator sees no value (otherwise known as the ‘new win’)? what do you think increases with knowledge? -you learn how little you know success can motivate but near wins can propel us in an ongoing quest THE NEAR WIN CHANGES THE VIEW OF THE LANDSCAPE AND PUTS OUR GOALS INTO PERSPECTIVE AND TANGIBLE CLARITY let the near wins and failure push us to our full potential and during that journey you can choose grow or you can choose to stay where you are we build out of the unfinished idea even if that idea is our former self -this is mastery.. coming close to what you’ve always wanted can help you obtain more than you ever dreamed you could Sarah Lewis: https://www.ted.com/talks/sarah_lewis_embrace_the_near_win?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare Courtney Johnson: https://www.ted.com/talks/courtney_johnson_failure_is_necessary?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare Elizabeth Gilbert: https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_gilbert_success_failure_and_the_drive_to_keep_creating?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshareWelcome to your blog post.
